Hunters & Game Wardens
With Montana's abundant wildlife and long tradition of responsible hunting and fishing, the Montana Food Bank Network relies heavily on donated wild game to help fill our pantries. With our Cannery Facility at the state prison in Deer Lodge we are able to process large amounts of wild game every year into 1 lb frozen packages. We also have our annual Montana Hunter's Against Hunger Wild Game Drive which helps both hunters and those in need.
In the last year alone some donations we have accepted included:
- 25 elk from the National Bison Range in Moise, MT
- 42 elk and deer from the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks Department in Great Falls
- 17,655 pounds of wild sockeye salmon from the Idaho Fish and Game Department
- 22 deer and elk from the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks Department in Missoula
- 1572 pounds of Lake Trout from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Tribal Fisheries on Flathead Lake
No matter what you might have please contact James Dodge at 1-800-809-4752 x-226 or email jdodge@MFBN.org and see if we can find a way to use it to help others across Montana.
